HIGHLIGHTS
Gentle and loving first school experience for children who turn 3 by December 31st of school year and are ready to begin their school experience
Focus on social-emotional and spiritual development with very gentle introduction to school readiness
Teacher to student ratio of 2:12
TYPICAL TOTS CLASS SCHEDULE
9:00-9:15: Arrival
Children place coat and backpack in assigned basket. Wash hands with help of teacher.
9:15- 9:45: Learning Centers
Children choose from among these centers:
- Block center
- Dramatic play
- Art table
- Sensory table
- Sand table
- Activity table
- Book corner
The teacher will work with one or two children at a time on specific skills/activities at various centers, as well as having “floor time” with the children.
9:45-9:55: Clean Up Time
Children assist the teachers in putting materials away.
9:55-1015: Story Time
Teacher reads a story to the whole class. Teacher leads children in Bible story, songs and/or fingerplays. Goodbye prayer and goodbye song.
10:15-10:30: Bathroom Break
Toileting and hand washing.
10:30-10:50: Snack Time
Children and teachers share a healthy snack and conversation. Everyone assists in cleaning up.
10:50-11:25: Gross Motor Outdoor Playtime
Children play outdoors in one of our two parks, weather permitting. Both of our outdoor areas, the Slide Park and Nature Park are fenced-in. If outdoor play is not possible, children will use the indoor play equipment or participate in other movement activities.
11:25-11:30: Goodbye Meeting
Goodbye prayer and goodbye song
11:30: Dismissal
Children are dismissed outside.
